Dashing young serial entrepreneur Anders Dahl’s latest venture is Celery, a noble effort to bring the power of big data analysis to ordinary users. Anders has created a multi-sided platform that will create numerous low to mid paying jobs. Who says Silicon Valley only knows creative destruction? Kudos to Anders for his creative… creation!
I’m intrigued by the potential of the “Long Tail”: the idea that small subcultures can take on great importance through the power of the Internet. This startup takes the idea of the “Long Tail” quite literally; providing the furry subculture with what are, quite literally, long tails!
My fund has invested in this company as part of our socially conscious effort to support companies catering to underserved communities. After all, what minority group could be more underserved than the oft-ridiculed, misunderstood Furry community?

I can’t stop raving about this new start-up, pSycophant. The brilliant team of Dora Adams and Rachel Lin are applying technology to a truly pressing social problem: occurences of low self-esteem in the Millenial generation. I’d love to see more young entrepreneurs follow in their footsteps and create organizations that benefit the greater good (in addition to being profitable).
Here’s their slide deck; I dare you to read it and not come away inspired!
Recently a friend passed me a slide deck from the mobile gaming startup Rager. They have a truly innovative idea for spicing up the most boring part of my day: my daily commute. Who needs a self-driving car when zooming in and out of traffic at high speeds can be so much fun, thanks to the power of gamification? This is truly an example of Silicon Valley creativity at it’s finest.
